participate in the Hoosier Girls Basketball League (HGBL)
Purpose: To provide an opportunity for girls
grades 3rd through 8th to participate in competitive basketball.
Provide an opportunity to improve the physical condition and
basketball skills of all participants. To help developed a
strong school base teams through leagues and quality tournaments.
Basketball is a contact sport in which injuries can occur.
League Games: Leagues will be played in
the fall and winter. Fall league games will be played at designated
sites. Winter league member will host all other division teams
on a designated Sunday afternoon. Games will begin no earlier
than 12:00pm and no later than 5:30pm. Changes to game schedule
will be communicated thru the schedule page on this site.
Any changes made after 6:00PM on the Friday prior to a game
will be communicated thru a phone call to the coach or designated
contact.
League Roster: All players must be in the
grade or below in which league they are playing. Team's roster
must consist of players attending the same school or feed
into the same High School of their School District. Parochial
or Private school teams must identify the schools in their
school system (district) that feed into the same high school.
A maximum of 12 players and a minimum of 9 players are allowed
per team. USSSA roster rules apply for USSSA tournaments.
SANCTION: The league and tournaments will
be USSSA sanctioned. All teams, players and coaches must be
USSSA members. USSSA will provide 3rd party liability insurance
for each school. Teams will not be eligible to play until
all forms/fees have been received
Purpose: To provide an opportunity for girls

offer play, teamwork and to provide an opportunity to improve
the physical condition of all participants.
Games: Each league member will host all other division teams
on a designated Sunday afternoon. Games will begin no earlier
than 12:00 PM and no later than 6:00 PM.
Rules: IHSAA rules will be followed with the following exceptions:
Quarters will be six minutes for all leagues Overtime will
be two minutes Half-time will be five minutes Each team will
be guaranteed a ten minute warm-up unless both coach's and
officials agree. No more than three coaches on the bench during
a game. After completion of all games the host school will
call or fax results to league commissioner and mail the top
score sheet.
Tourney: A tournament will be held at the end or the season.
Seeding will be based upon league standing ( 1st place Vs
8th place etc). In case of identical records, seeding will
be based upon AAU tie breaker rules.
Behavior: The teams head coach will be responsible for the
actions of his/her player's, coach's and parents. Technical
foul will be assessed immediately for improper behavior determined
by the game officials. Any player, coach or parent who receives
two technical fouls during the same game will be ejected from
the gym. If a parent receives two technical, the parent and
head coach will be ejected from the gym. A team left without
a rostered coach will immediately forfeit the game.
Roster: All players must be residents of the school system
from which the team represents. All players must be in the
grade or below in which league there playing. Final roster
must be sent to Mark Tamm 4th grade or Scott Seright 5th &
6th grades at the addresses shown below no later than November
8th. Copies of team rosters will be forwarded to each coach
subsequent to the first game of the league season. A maximum
of twelve (12) players are allowed on a team with a minimum
of nine (9) players listed on its official roster.
USSFA: The league will be USSSA sanctioned. All players
and coach's must be USSSA members. USSSA will provide 3rd
party liability insurance for each school
Officials: All officials must be IHSAA licensed officials.
Each host team is responsible for getting and paying officials.
Each team will be required to provide a timer or scorekeeper
for each of the games. Home team will keep the score sheet
and the Visitor will operate the scoreboard.
Admission: Admission shall not exceed $3.00 per person with
10 and under free.
